Information for the companies

There are no limitations to the problem areas, the only condition is that the problems can be approached by mathematical and numerical modelling. The sort of problems that study groups in Britain, continental Europe, the US and Australia have investigated range from bioscience, nanotechnology and green power to management of stock surplus, GPS in a shopping mall, message delivery in wireless networks and traffic safety control.

The problems that were investigated at the previous edition in Sofia, Bulgaria varied from calibration of sensors and estimation of errors in text processing to heavy industrial tasks, such as prediction of sanding in hydrocarbon reservoirs and optimization of the processes in metallurgy. The complete list of problems and suggested solutions is available at esgi95.fmi.uni-sofia.bg/Problems.html.

If you are interested in presenting a problem to the Study Group, we would be delighted to hear from you. If your project is selected for consideration, you will have to write a detailed description (one to two A4 pages) of the problem for including it in the booklet of problems. A representative of the company will present the problem at the first day of the Study Group and will stay in touch with the academic participants during the whole week to guide them through the particulars of the problem under investigation.

A financial support from the companies presenting the problems will be higly appreciated.
